No-Sew Curtains

I have been putting off making curtains for our kitchen forever now and finally decided its time. I posted pictures recently of a birthday present my mom got me and was reminded just how bare this corner of our kitchen really is. I got the idea for No-Sew curtains here at Young House Love. Super easy and no sewing machine ..IM IN!
I went to Joann's on a random Wednesday and they had 50% off fabric, so what better time to start a project!

Supplies
*Fabric
*Ruler
*Heat n Bond 7/8"
* Tape
*Paper
*Scissors
*1X2 Piece of wood
*Staple gun
*Drill

I had everything but fabric and Heat n Bond tape.I spent a total of $14 on the whole thing! I love a cheap project:)

My window measured 18X22" so I taped together my paper template for a guide. Then put it up to make sure it was the right length.

Then I used my template to cut my fabric. I gave myself an additional inch on each side except the top I gave an additional 3 inches because we would have to roll it over the 1X2 piece of wood.

Once you have it all cut out its time to make your folds. You want to make sure your ironing a straight fold {use your ruler!}. Remember you need a 1 inch fold on both sides and the bottom. The top is the only part you don't fold.

Now that you have everything ironed break out the Heat n Bond Tape, Cut your strips and lay it right up against the crease you made.

Run the iron over the strips and then let it cool for a minute before you just rip it off { or it will pull all your adhesive off}.Then its as simple as pulling back the paper and folding the fabric over and ironing back over the fold to secure it! I LOVE this stuff did I mention that:)
Eric had already measured and cut the 1X2 to fit each window, now just line up the top of the fabric with your wood. This is the part were I got a little nervous because I want them to match perfectly. Needless to say they aren't perfect but damn close! Then make a clean line of staples to secure it to the wood.

I only needed to roll it over once, and my work was done just called for the hubby to put them up!! He actually looks pretty happy about helping even if I had to coax a pose.

We had a little helper too! I asked her if she liked Mommy"s NEW curtains and she said YES! She was so excited to be on the counter though I think I could have gotten her to agree to anything!

Im in shock at how easy this was and just how long it took me to start this project..lol but WOW big improvement! I think we all just sat around and stared at them for a good 10 mins after we were done.
Here is the Before

And finally the After! It's feels so home-y, I'm super proud of how they turned out and for only $14! CRAZY:)
