Filling the hole..kinda

So we have been talking about getting a bigger TV for years now but our little dilemma has been the only thing holding us back. But I should never under estimate my husband..lol he fixed it;)

The house was built with this lovely media niche that is just WAY to small. We actually had to down grade the TV we had when we moved in and get a smaller one to fit in the little media niche. Which didn't make my husband happy....Well, after four years of living in this house Eric was done dealing with it. Armed with his stash of cash (christmas and valentines money..lol) we were off to Lowes and Best Buy! We needed 2X4's ...turns out we only used one but got two @ $6.46 and the TV of course. We decided on a 50" Vizio smart TV that was on sale for $649.00.

The idea is to stud it in so to speak. We didn't want to fill it completely because we wanted to be able to access the plugs and such behind. He built the stud out of 2X4 and gave it the weight test ..lol he had to show me how "solid" it was by standing on it {wish I would have got a pic of that!}. Which was kinda cool and I knew it was very stable because God forbid It FALL, that would be a bad day. After it was all level and secure he attached the mount and TahDah!!

He did this guy all by himself and was like a kid at christmas when it was done! He never gets anything JUST for him so im happy with the upgrade!
PURE AWESOME!! That smile make it all so worth it!
So what have you done lately?

We FINALLY painted our guest bedroom!!

We did it! Yupe im pretty excited about it too. I picked a really light/Clean color for our guest bedroom. I have big plans for it and its all coming together now. We started out like this... I know that yellow is NASTY.

Its like someone smeared mustard on the walls. Just imagine all of the walls in your house this color...shudder. Yes, this is the color of EVERY room of our little house came with. Its like baggage..serious baggage considering we either live with it or cover it immediately. We chose to cover all the living space before we moved in and somehow left the guest bedroom and laundry room.  Fast forward four years and we still have two rooms this awful color. But I got that all too familiar painting itch! So with one whole day off I had a plan to just make some headway;) GO ME!!

I chose a color by Benjamin Moore called Moonshine. LOVE it so much I could do every room in  it, im so serious its sad. I just love the clean look it gives the room, bigger and brighter is always better!!

So my Lowes trip consisted of $68 worth of goodies.

I was brave and didn't use a lick of painters tape, I wanted to try my hand at cutting in. I have watched tons of tutorials on it and im relieved at how easy but time consuming it actually was. I took me a total of about 2.5 hours to do the trim on the ceiling, base boards, doors, windows, outlets and light switches. Whatever it felt like forever to me too. But I will say it was way better than taping everything off just to be mad when I took it off and their was a mess left behind.

There's the hubby rolling on my beloved Moonshine! Isn't he cute!

Taadahh!! Don't you just Love it? Im so happy with the color.
We have quite the "To Do" list for this room but the most time consuming is FINALLY done. For that I take a sigh of relief.  But it's so far from over.
So this is the game plan so far.

*reupholster the slipper accent chairs
*Make a Fabric headboard
*Hang some DIY art on the walls
*Freshly painted Vanity or Bookcase
*New shams for the bed

Inspiration stuff

I would love to do a small white bookcase but that all depends on if dear old mom gives me the one she has stashed away in her garage.{still working on that one} But I have a vanity that I just can't seem to let go that might make the cut {if painted}.

I have two slipper chairs that will be reupholstered too! Pretty exciting if you ask me!
