Upolstered headboard

Since we decided to update our guest bedroom I have been dying to try my hand at an upholstered headboard. I didn't want any thing fancy just a rectangular headboard inspired by my favorite blog Young house love. They have the best step by step tutorials for DIY-ers! this is the link that I found the most helpful. We needed a sheet of OSB cut to 36 x 55 which they can cut for you in like 10 seconds! Love it and it was only $6.98.

I wanted it to be cushy! But wanted to keep the cost down so instead of buying three rolls of two inch foam which wasn't wide enough we went with two rolls of one inch foam.THANK GOD for 50% off coupons at hobby lobby!!! It was plenty wide I just had to cut two sheets and use spray adhesive to attach the sheets then when I was pleased with that I used that same spray adhesive to attach them to the OSB. Pretty easy stuff just had to wait for it to dry.

I wish I had taken more pictures but it was all hands on stuff. The next step was to iron the AWESOME fabric. We went with two yards @ $10.79 with a 40% off coupon! The next step was to lay it out flat on the floor and place the headboard Just right with at least two inches extra fabric on each end to wrap and staple! Pop four staples one at the center of each side and check to make sure your pattern is straight. With that looking good, continue stapling and wrapping your corners like a present.

With that done all you need to do is hang it,right?... Yeah no. I know I was ecstatic but had to wait till the next day to finish( Bummer I know but it was late..).The next day we attached the D rings to the back of the headboard and agreed on the placement then used the laser level.
Im a worry wart and have to step back and analyze before we put holes in the wall, but with everything lining up Eric drilled the holes! We did use anchors for safe measure considering its not just for looks and Kallie is SUPER curious.

We're so pleased with how it turned out! Its cushy and big just how I envisioned! We will probably tweak it some more like adding big beige shams in the back and changing the night stand but all in time. Im content with our fresh new guest room.
Sorry the picture is a little dark.. I took this one just to show just how light and BRIGHT the fabric headboard is!!!! I love it so much its sad. I go in the guest room just to admire this beauty!

Now for Additional updates to the guest bedroom! My mom gave me the white bookcase I have been begging for over year! It went from sitting in her garage to having a happy home at our house! Im eventually going to paint the back of each shelf a light blue. But for now I love the pops of pink, blue and yellow to tie in the headboard.

My favorite Pop of color is definatly our gnome! He's just so fun:) If im being honest I went cray cray in target, home goods, and Tj maxx on fillers/frames for my bookcase! Which Im totally okay with.
Its now my mission to fill all the new frames lol my husband picks on me because I love to buy them but takes me forever to actually put something in them. It's a constant battle but its a work in progress!

OSB sheet - $6.96
